We are a rug washing plant first. Carpet is the other half of the same problem: soil that has worked its way below the surface, where a vacuum cannot reach it. The method is different because the material is different, and it is worth understanding which one your floor actually needs before you book anyone.
Wall-to-wall carpet is synthetic in most Bend homes built after 1990 – nylon, polyester, or triexta, glued or stretched over pad. It is fixed in place, it cannot be submerged, and it is cleaned where it lies. That makes hot water extraction the correct method, and it is what we use.
What a carpet clean actually includes
- Pre-inspection. Fiber type, backing condition, existing damage, and any spots that will need separate chemistry. You get told up front what will not come out.
- Dry vacuum pass. Extraction alone leaves dry soil behind. The vacuum pass is what removes the pumice grit and pine needles that Bend homes track in year round.
- Pre-spray and dwell. An alkaline pre-spray matched to the soil load in the room, given time to work rather than sprayed and immediately sucked up.
- Agitation. A counter-rotating brush works the solution into the pile so the extraction has something to lift.
- Hot water extraction. High-temperature rinse under pressure, with a neutralizing rinse so nothing sticky is left behind to attract soil.
- Grooming and airflow. Pile set in one direction, air movers placed where the room needs them.
Drying times in Bend’s climate
Bend sits at roughly 3,600 feet with relative humidity that runs low most of the year. That works in your favor: carpet that would take eight hours to dry in the Willamette Valley is usually dry here in four to six with air movers running. In winter, when houses are closed up and the wood stove is going, we bring more airflow rather than more heat – heat without air movement just moves moisture into the pad.
If a company tells you the carpet will be dry in an hour, they are either using very little water or they are not extracting properly. Neither is what you want.
Pet urine in carpet
The problem with urine in wall-to-wall carpet is not the carpet – it is the pad and the subfloor underneath it. Surface cleaning removes the stain and leaves the source. If the smell has been coming back after previous cleans, the contamination is below the backing and it needs to be treated at that level, or in bad cases the affected pad section needs replacing. We will tell you honestly which situation you are in rather than selling you a treatment that will not hold.

Carpet or rug?
If the floor covering can be picked up and carried, it is a rug, and it should not be cleaned in place. Rugs are washed at our facility, where they can be submerged, flushed and dried under controlled conditions.
